Oshiomhole re-elected, says victory an invitation to hard wo

The newly re-elected governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has thanked the people of the state for re electing him for another term of four years in office.

ACN’s Oshiomhole polled 477,478 to beat his closest rival Maj-Gen Charles Airhiavbere of the PDP (rtd) who polled 144,235.
The governor, who stated this in Benin yesterday shortly after the announcement of his re election, said his re-election was an invitation for him to work harder.
He said with the Saturday election the people of Edo State have made a statement that they are for development and will support any hard working officials irrespective of ethnic or party affiliation.
While congratulating the people of the state for exercising their rights without violence and ballot box snatching, the governor said the people had demonstrated that there is no alternative to democracy.
The governor commended the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC], security agents and NYSC staff for conducting a free, fair and credible election in the state.
Meanwhile, Benin city, the capital of Edo State virtually stood still yesterday, as thousands of supporters of the Action Congress of Nigeria, defied the early morning rain to embark on a victory procession round the city to celebrate the re-election of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as Governor of Edo State in the July 14 governorship poll.
The ACN faithful spontaneously thronged the streets after the result of the July 14 election was announced by INEC.
